Watercolours

I started with watercolor paint after painting with oil and acrylic for a few years. My first thought was that it might be nice to use watercolor to make sketches for paintings. It turned out that watercolor was a far more exciting technique than I had imagined, and eventually it became one of my main techniques. I often hear that my watercolors are different from other watercolors, and it's probably because I took the road from oil and acrylic to watercolor, and that I have learned it on my own.

Painting watercolor is very challenging, once I have colored the paper I can not do it again. I can paint darker, but if I try to paint over to "fix" something, it gets slightly cloudy and you lose the light in the painting. Sometimes I get tired of the challenge with this, but it does not take long before the watercolor colors tempt me back.
