Tonight we have landed in a cozy lodge in Tomatin after two days of road trip from Cockenzie via Dundee and over the highlands.
Yesterday we visited Crail harbour
We had a lovely cake for "lunch" at Crail gallery and tearoom, and bought som local ceramics.
From here we drove to Dunino Den where there is an ancient pagan sacred place, approximately 2000 years old
We also found a nice old church here, as we came out from the forest
In Dundee we had some sushi for dinner before we drove further to spend the night in an old castle 😁 this was a surprise from tore, since he knows I'm slightly interested in castles
This morning Mylady woke up status-wise in Hallgreen Castle
After having a genuine (big and heavy) scottish breakfast, we had a tour of the castle with the owner. Parts of the castle is dated back to the end of 1300, big parts of it is from 1400.
One of his foremothers, great-great-something, was a very skilled artist. We got to see a real gem of a sketchbook he had found in the addict of his parents.
The departure then was a bit behind schedule, because of this nice tour. From here we drove straight to Dunottar Castle where we had some hours walking around on historical grounds.
A little selfie taken with a bit strong sun in our eyes 😎😁
There were a magnificent view from all the windows of the castle
And of course I found lots of motives here too
Lovely colours an nice light in the brewery
After time spent in ruins of a castle, we turned towards Balmoral Castle. We had a nice little workout walking half an hour up on a hill on a hunt for a pyramid. We found it eventually
This pyramid queen Victoria had built in memory of prince Albert in 1866
Then we hit the road crossing the highlands towards Inverness. Beautiful scenery!
Lovely colours to be found up here too
We had a dinner in Boat of Garten before getting to this lovely lodge in Tomatin, Glennan Lodge, where we will spend the night. We had to taste the local whiskey before going to bed. It is approved.
Tomorrow we will spend some time in Inverness before heading for Loch Ness.
